What Is Myofascial Pain Syndrome ?

Fascial pain symptoms can be associated with multiple regions of the body that appear to be disconnected. They can have a seemingly odd presentation and can often present with no apparent connection to movement, trauma or insult. Fascia is the connective tissue that in intimately associated with every organ of the body, including muscle, bone, nerve and vessels. It is a continuous structure that extends in all planes and directions of the body. Research of the fascial layers of the body has uncovered increasing evidence of its association with pain and restriction of motion. Trauma to the system from illness, physical and emotional trauma or inflammation can cause a damage in the configuration of the fascia resulting in pain and dysfunction.
